My bachelor’s degree project at Politecnico di Milano involved re-editing an assigned book, "Tutti i segreti dei treni" (1954, Ivo Angelini) with the aim of creating a visual book, in order words a book that would visually amplify the meaning of the tome.
After an in-depth thinking about what values a book from seventy years ago could have today, I have developed a concept based on the enhancement of what distinguished the tome the most: illustrations.
In order to do that, I have used a large format and developed a system of symbols that would allow the communication between the text and the illustrations. Furthermore, I have kept a connection with the ‘50s, the period to which the original text belongs, through some photographic inserts. I have collaborated with Cristina Balbiano d'Aramengo to create the OTA-binding.
